Barry is a beautiful and passionate young Irishman, who began his adult life with a duel for a woman who does not love him. There is no hero in the visual story of Kubrick (from the novel by Thackeray), there are flashes of light in this age of enlightenment, but only candles that used by the director to give that character pearly photography natural and reminiscent of Canaletto and landscape painting and it deserved an Oscar, the distinctly pictorial scenes, costumes and soundtrack have won the other three. Nice and cool, the film seems to praise to a deep distrust of the human being, partially mitigated by the irony of the narrative voice thin and chamber music.
